BRAISED COCA-COLA CHICKEN WINGS

We've combined two of your favorite weeknight guilty pleasures: chicken wings and a cold can of Coca-Cola. You can thank us later, especially after you throw these wings down on the Pit Boss to give them that kiss of smoke every dinner or game day appetizer needs. Try them for yourself.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Peanut Oil (or Vegetable Oil)
  • 16 chicken wings
  • 3 Tsp Dried Chili Flake
  • 1 Scallion, Chopped
  • 1 Tsp Powdered Ginger
  • 2 Tbsp Light Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp White Wine
  • 1 Tbsp Red Wine Vinegar
  • 1 Can 12 oz Coca Cola
  • 1 Bottle 18.5 Gold Peak Sweet Tea
  • 1/2 Cup Onion, Minced
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Cilantro or Green Onion, Chopped for Garnish

Directions

  1. In a large bowl or plastic bag, add the oil, chili flake, ginger, garlic, ½ can of Coke and mix thoroughly. Add the chicken wings, and evenly coat them, and place in refrigerator for 2 hours up to 24 hours.
  1. Heat Pit Boss grill to 250°F (Low heat using a charcoal or gas grill). Place wings on the grill and cook for 75 minutes, turning as needed.
  1. In a deep cast iron pan with a lid, mix the remaining ½ can of Coke, 1 bottle of the Gold Peak Sweet Tea, wine, vinegar, salt, onion, Pit Boss Homestyle Pork Rub, and Memphis BBQ Sauce.
  1. Add the wings from the grill to the pan, and coat wings thoroughly. Cover the pan and leave on the grill grate.
  1. Increase heat on the Pit Boss grill to 325°F and allow the wings to braise for 1 hour.
  1. When finished transfer the wings to a serving plate and garnish with your choice of cilantro or green onion and enjoy.
